Institutional Criteria
- Focus on lending to micro-entrepreneurs.
- Located and operating in one or more Arab countries.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience and operations as an MFI.
- Minimum of 5,000 active clients in countries of more than 8 million population and more than 3,000 active clients in all other countries.
- Exception of Lebanon and Palestine which should have a minimum of 2,000 active clients.
- Working to achieve full operational and financial sustainability.
Network Relationship
- Commitment to attending the annual conference.
- Commitment to paying annual dues and the cost of services.
- Commitment to participating in the General Assembly.
- CEO or deputy represents institution.
- Voice and voting privileges.
- Sanabel Board of Directors’ members nominated/elected from this pool.

- Committed to building transparency, evidenced by the annual submission of financial information to external auditors and the Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX).

- No vote
Institutional Criteria
- Individuals, banks, donors, technical assistance providers, trainers and non-MFI NGOs committed to the development of best practice microfinance in Arab countries;
- Actively participating in the microfinance sector in Arab countries

Institutional Criteria
- Advancing Microfinance in the Arab region.
- Located and operating in one or more Arab countries;
- Representing more than 50% of the microfinance sector in area(s) of operation (i.e. members serving more than 50% of active clients within the network’s area(s) of work).
- Focusing on results oriented activities.
- Working towards achieving full operational and financial sustainability.
Network Relationship
- Commitment to contributing staff time and travel costs to Sanabel activities and events.
- Commitment to attending the annual conference.
- Commitment to paying annual dues and the cost of services.
- Affiliation with the leading best practice MFIs in the region.
- Discounted registration fees for Sanabel's annual Conference, the largest gathering of microfinance practitioners, experts, donors, investors, and stakeholders in the region.
- Discounted fees and priority for participation in Sanabel's trainings courses. These courses are updated, contextualized to local realities and delivered in Arabic, English or French.
- Discounted fees and priority for participation in Sanabel's Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops. Once certified by Sanabel, TOT participants can train their staff and others in the region using the latest versions of Sanabel’s courses.
- Disseminating your MFI’s latest news through Sanabel’s website.
- Participating in peer learning activities and exchanges.
- Exclusive access to new projects and activities brought to the region for the first time.
- Through participation in Sanabel’s General Assembly, the opportunity to assist in setting the direction of Sanabel and, hence, playing a key role in shaping the future of the industry in the region.
- Affiliate members are granted access to participate in the General Assembly, represented by their CEO or deputy, where they have voice privileges.
- Full members have also voting privileges in the General Assembly and the possibility to be elected as part of Sanabel’s Board of Directors.
- Any MFI / National Network in the region that fulfills the membership criteria can apply for membership with the network by completing the application form.
