Founded in 2002, Sanabel is the first and only regional network dedicated to microfinance in the Arab world.
Established in Tunisia by 17 representatives from 7 Arab countries, Sanabel was later registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in both the United States and Egypt, where it operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Solidarity..
For more than 24 years, Sanabel has built one of the Arab region’s strongest networks for financial inclusion, connecting microfinance leaders, practitioners, and investors across the Arab world and beyond. Today, Sanabel brings together 39 members from 11 Arab countries, including Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria and Mauritania.
Sanabel’s members are among the largest and most influential microfinance leaders in their respective markets, serving millions of clients and contributing to the growth of inclusive and sustainable financial services throughout the region. Through its role as a regional platform, Sanabel continues to inform, connect, and advocate for the advancement of financial inclusion.
