This week’s event – MENA Governance and Strategic Leadership Seminar, March 7-9, 2017, in Amman, Jordan

The two-and-a-half-day seminar on “MENA Governance and Strategic Leadership” is gathering CEOs and board members of leading MFIs from the Arab region with the aim of striking discussions around key challenges in governance and risk management.

The agenda, rich in highly interactive peer learning opportunities, includes plenary discussions on financial inclusion, managing risk, board roles and responsibilities, managing sustainable growth, navigating challenging environments, client centricity, governance dynamics, and strategic leadership. In addition, the participants will be engaged in a simulated interaction to illustrate regulator expectations and Internal Audit preparation, with a separate session dedicated to interpret key take-aways and observations from the role play; and in group discussions revolving around lessons learned from the participants, namely PADME Benin and Enda Inter-Arabe Tunisia.

Sanabel members are contributing greatly to this event, counting 22 out of the 28 number of participants, which represent 12 out of the participating 17 MFIs, coming from 5 countries. Additionally, Sanabel’s Executive Director, Sahar Tieby, and one of the founding members of Sanabel, Mohamed Khaled, MENA Microfinance Program Manager at IFC, are speaking during the Seminar Introduction and in two of the plenary discussions.

With a compact audience and a diverse agenda, the seminar wishes to engage all participants to contribute with their unique experiences and perspectives, and also to benefit by learning from the experiences of their peers.
